Originally the lower deck of the pulpit was used by the clerk who would  say those parts of the service which we now associate as ‘congregational.

The minister led the service from the middle deck ( as we still do today) and would use the upper deck for preaching.

The church is dominated by the pulpit and the whole emphasis of this building is on the preaching of God’s word.

When a new font cover was required, David Hilton took this into account with his design of an open Bible.
Baptism is the beginning of the Christian life.

Traditionally fonts were placed near the main door of the church to symbolise the ‘entry’ into God’s family.

At the other end of the church, we find the Altar, where those who are full members of the church are invited to share in Holy
