Once the legal formalities have been completed all that is required for a church wedding to proceed is that :
Bride and groom come to church at the agreed time.
They bring two witnesses with them
The Vicar acts as the Registrar.
The cost of such a wedding, including the legal formalities before the ceremony and the marriage certificate is £262.50 this year.
However the couple may wish to have the organist to play before, during and after the service; they may decide that they would like to have the bells; and there are other options which they can choose to incorporate into their service.
We are permitted, by law, to charge a fee for any additional service we provide, so for a wedding with organ, bells and service sheets the cost, including the legal fees and marriage certificate, is £480 in 2007.
Church flowers are not included in the above prices and couples should not feel obliged to have flowers. Couples who wish to make provision for flowers should discuss this with the Vicar. Access for the florist to look round the building can be arranged.
When one or both of the couple have a partner from a previous marriage still living, the parish policy is not to solemnize a wedding service but to offer a service of prayer and thanksgiving.
