The Diocese Of Bradford Churchyard Rules
For conserving
the character of the churchyards
of
St Mary-le-Ghyll Barnoldswick
and St Michael’s Bracewell
A. General
1. Every application to erect or place anything whatsoever or to do any works n the churchyard must be made in writing, In the first place, to the Incumbent or Priest-in-Charge with full description of the proposed work.
Applications for the introduction of memorials must be made on the form issued by the Diocese and obtainable from the Incumbent or Priest-in- Charge.
In any case where authority of a faculty is required, as appears hereunder, the application must be made to the Registrar of the Diocese.
2. Nothing shall be erected or placed and no works shall be done in the churchyard until such proposals have received the consent in writing of the Incumbent or Priest-in-Charge or until a faculty has been received as the case may be.
3. When there is no Incumbent or Priest-in-Charge, applications must be made to and consent obtained from the Rural Dean.
4. To permit mowing of the churchyard, the surface should be kept level as far as possible and free from grave mounds.
The surface of the graves shall be of grass only, except in the case of ledger stones.
