Supporting the project.
As of 3 May 2007, with the casting of the “Ringers Bell”, we have 5 bells .
We were disappointed to learn that the Heritage Lottery Fund was unable to make a grant towards the project. Their reasoning was that we would be making a new ring rather than conserving the existing bells. The fact that we wished to train ringers was of no interest to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Foundation for Sports and the Arts had allocated all their funds for the last financial year and were unable to make a grant.
We have received two generous donations from both the Lancashire and Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers - so there has been some benefit from the 1974 boundary changes!
West Craven Together have also given financial support and we are currently applying to the Arts Council.
So we still need to find the money for a 6th bell and we will then install the restored and new bells in our cast iron frame with a configuration which will allow us to add a further 2 or 4 when finance allows.
If you can help us reach our target before the end of our anniversary year , please be assured your gift will make a difference.
